We’re building a nimble, ethical, indexer-ready publisher and we need collaborators across editorial, review, outreach and operations — from strategic Co-Founders for new journals to part-time editorial assistants and volunteer interns. Open positions (role summaries, responsibilities & requirements)

Note: All roles operate under Erudexa’s publisher policies (OA: CC BY 4.0; indexation goal: DOAJ/Scopus/Web of Science). When we list an institutional affiliation or ORCID on the site we will link to the verified institutional profile supplied during application.

 

1) Co-Founder — Journal Level (Strategic editorial partner)

Role type: Strategic / leadership — part equity/part editorial (details negotiated) · remote + occasional coordination with Publisher.
Role summary: Partner with Erudexa to launch, grow and run a new journal under the Erudexa imprint. You will be the journal’s Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief (or appoint one), set scope and editorial strategy, recruit the editorial board, oversee peer review standards, and drive indexing and outreach.
Key responsibilities

  • Co-designing journal scope, editorial policies and launch plan.
  • Recruiting and onboarding editorial board and reviewers.
  • Leading editorial decisions and ensuring review quality and timeliness.
  • Coordinating with Erudexa for DOI minting, archiving and indexation applications.
  • Promoting the journal to author communities and funders.
    Required qualifications
  • Established scholarly profile (peer-reviewed publications) and/or prior editorial leadership.
  • Strong networks in the proposed journal’s discipline(s).
  • Experience with journal launch or academic publishing preferred.
  • Willingness to commit time to build the title (negotiated time commitment).
    Desirable
  • ORCID iD, institutional profile link, prior experience with indexer applications.
    Application materials
  • CV, short concept note (max 2 pages) describing proposed scope, target community, and a 12-month launch roadmap, plus two professional references.
    Notes
  • We will discuss governance, editorial control, and any co-founder compensation structure during selection. Decisions about formal equity or profit sharing are subject to a mutually agreed legal agreement.

 

2) Editor (Journal level)

Role type: Editor-in-Chief / Subject Editor (part/full time depending on title) · remote/hybrid
Role summary: Provide academic leadership for a journal: manage manuscript decisions, oversee peer review quality, and represent the journal to indexing bodies and scholarly communities.
Key responsibilities

  • Assess submissions, assign handling editors/reviewers, and make editorial decisions.
  • Maintain editorial board and ensure diversity of expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with Erudexa policies (ethics, peer review, data).
  • Support indexing and archiving documentation.
    Required qualifications (non-negotiable)
  • Recognised institutional affiliation (link to an institutional profile that will be displayed publicly). Institutional email address required (no generic gmail/yahoo/hotmail addresses accepted for this role).
  • Established publication record and prior editorial/review experience.
  • ORCID strongly preferred.
    Desirable
  • Experience with indexers (DOAJ, Scopus, WoS) or journal metrics.

3) Reviewer

Role type: Volunteer / compensated per journal policy (honorarium possible) · remote
Role summary: Provide fair, timely, constructive peer reviews following the journal’s review template. Reviewers help ensure methodological rigor and reporting quality.
Key responsibilities

  • Complete impartial reviews using the publisher’s structured template.
  • Declare conflicts of interest and adhere to confidentiality.
  • Suggest improvements and recommend additional reviewers if appropriate.
    Required qualifications
  • Subject-matter expertise (publications or professional experience).
  • ORCID preferred.

  • Short CV, areas of expertise (3–6 keywords), ORCID, examples of recent publications.

 

4) Advisor

Role type: Advisory / part-time (strategic)
Role summary: Provide high-level guidance on editorial standards, indexer strategy, ethical governance, or technology/adoption. Advisors are consulted on policy development and strategic initiatives.
Key responsibilities

  • Quarterly strategy meetings; ad hoc advice on indexation, policy or partnerships.
  • Support credibility-building activities (workshops, outreach).

  • Senior academic / industry profile with relevant experience.

5) National Representative

Role type: Part-time / regional outreach · country/region specific
Role summary: Act as Erudexa’s local contact to promote journals, recruit authors/reviewers, and liaise with institutions. Representatives help regionalize editorial practices and increase submissions.
Key responsibilities

  • Build relationships with universities, societies and research groups.
  • Promote calls for papers and identify potential editorial board members.
    Required qualifications
  • Networked within national research communities; good communication skills.

6) Editorial Assistant (Part-time / Volunteer / Full-time)

Role type: Junior operations role — remote / hybrid; some onsite tasks if local.
Role summary: Support editorial office workflows: initial checks, formatting, communications with authors/reviewers, tracking manuscripts, and light copyediting.
Key responsibilities

  • Perform manuscript triage (formatting, completeness, basic checks).
  • Maintain submission trackers and follow up with reviewers/authors.
  • Assist with copyediting and preparing proofs.
    Required qualifications
  • Good command of English (spoken & written) — English speaking mandatory.
  • Laptop required for remote/office work.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel/Sheets, and email.
    Desirable
  • Prior editorial assistant or publishing experience, or a degree in a related field.

7) Acquisition Executive (Business Development / Partnerships)

Role type: Part/time or full-time; remote/hybrid
Role summary: Develop partnerships with institutions, libraries, societies and indexing services; pursue potential institutional agreements and sponsorship / special issue opportunities.
Key responsibilities

  • Identify and approach institutional partners, funders and conference organisers.
  • Draft proposals for collaborative collections, special issues, and institutional publishing agreements.
  • Support APC institutional arrangements and invoicing negotiations.
    Required qualifications
  • Experience in publishing partnerships, sales or institutional relations. Strong communicator.

8) Other (Volunteers, interns, short-term project roles)

Role type: Flexible (project-based)
Role summary: Short projects: copyediting sprints, metadata cleaning, marketing campaigns, social media, layout/design support, or data-curation tasks. Ideal for students and early-career researchers.
Key responsibilities

  • Project-specific deliverables, supervised by editorial staff.

  • Initial screening: 1–2 weeks (eligibility, files, fit).
  • First interview / task: 2–4 weeks (video call and short task for some roles).
  • Final decision & offer: typically within 6–8 weeks total from application for senior roles; shorter for part-time or volunteer roles. Timelines vary by role and volume of applications.

Selection criteria & checks

  • We prioritise academic integrity, relevant experience, fit with publisher values, and commitment to open access.
  • For Editor / Co-Founder roles we require verification of institutional affiliation and may request references and a short interview.
  • Background checks and identity verification may be performed for roles with financial or contractual responsibility.

 

Remuneration & benefits

  • Remuneration varies by role. Some roles are voluntary (editorial board membership or reviewer service may be unpaid but recognised); senior editorial or business roles may be paid or compensated by negotiated arrangements.
  • Benefits: opportunity to shape new journals, public acknowledgement on the journal page, reviewer/editor certificates, and support for outreach and indexation efforts. Specifics are agreed at offer stage.
